THE CHILDREN

Behind every smile here is a story shaped by more than childhood should hold.

In this home, those stories are met with patience, compassion, and the chance to slowly rediscover what it means to feel safe.

Stability indicators

Some children arrive carrying burdens no child should have to carry.

Many of the children here come from Maasai communities where life is deeply rooted in tradition, but where illness, loss, and limited access to care can change everything quickly. Some lost parents early, others arrived with health conditions or challenges that had never been properly supported, including chronic illnesses like HIV or developmental needs. They weren’t chosen at random, but because they needed a place that could offer stability. For many, this was the first time they felt truly safe. It doesn’t erase what came before, but it gives them something steady — care, routine, and the reassurance that someone will be there tomorrow.

WHAT CHANGE LOOKS LIKE

Sometimes the biggest changes show up in the smallest moments.

A child raising their hand in class, laughter during playtime, or quietly finishing homework at the same table each day — small things that weren’t always certain. For many, school was inconsistent and daily life felt unpredictable. Here, things begin to settle; meals are shared, school becomes regular, and there is someone who stays. Slowly, you start to notice the difference — more confidence, more curiosity, easier smiles. It’s not a big, sudden change, just something that builds over time — the feeling of being safe enough to simply be a child.

Looking forward

Future

The goal is not just to care for the children today, but to help them build a future where they can live with dignity and independence. Through education, consistent care, and guidance, they are given the chance to grow with confidence and the skills to support themselves. At the same time, we are working to build more sustainable ways to support the home — including the safari project — so that this care can continue steadily in the years ahead.
